San Diego Date Spots I’ve Been Loving Recently
Between the spectacular restaurant scene, beautiful scenery, and an atmosphere that makes it easy to slow down and enjoy the moment, San Diego is one of my favorite cities for dating well. Recently I’ve been spending more time at restaurants and hotels that feel intentional, romantic, and worth dressing up for.
If you’re looking for San Diego date ideas, or you’re simply curious about the kinds of places I enjoy, here are a few recent favorites.
San Diego Restaurants Worth Taking a Date To
Madi
Elegant without feeling stiff, Madi is ideal for intimate conversation reliving our night of debauchery over yummy breakfast options and signature lattes. The atmosphere is bright but cozy, the food is familiar with a twist, and the outdoor patio feels quietly romantic. It’s the perfect cherry on top to our time together. Goddess recommends sharing the orange cinnamon roll pancakes and the G.O.A.T. breakfast sandwich.
Rare Society
Classic steakhouse energy done right. Dim, confident, indulgent. Rare Society is a great choice when you want a date night that feels polished and quietly luxurious. Goddess recommends the caesar salad, Denver A5 wagyu steak, and you must finish the meal with their infamous butter cake.
Trust
A tasting-menu experience that lets you settle in and enjoy the moment. Trust is perfect when you are feeling adventurous and want to reward your taste buds. Goddess recommends the hamachi crudo, ricotta agnolotti, char siu glazed brisket, and for dessert you must order both the milk & cookie pie and sticky toffee pudding.
Lou & Mickey’s
My new favorite date night spot - a downtown classic with a refined, energetic vibe. Ideal for dinner dates that naturally lead into the rest of the evening. Goddess recommends the crab cakes, parker house rolls, surf & turf, and ending with an espresso martini - one of my top 3 favorites in San Diego.
San Diego Hotels I’ve Enjoyed Staying At
Estancia Hotel & Spa
Peaceful, expansive, and beautifully designed. Estancia Hotel & Spa feels like a luxury retreat tucked inside the city — perfect for slowing down and being fully present. The hotel feels calm and grounded, surrounded by gardens and open space. It’s one of my favorite options for daytime dates that turn into relaxed evenings.
The Alma
Stylish and social with a modern edge. The Alma is great if you enjoy being in the middle of things while still having comfort and privacy. Bright, charming, and effortlessly cool. The Alma Café in their lobby is perfect for brunch or early afternoon dates where conversation flows easily and the energy feels light. As a native San Diegan, their fish tacos are the best I’ve every had!
The Westgate Hotel
Classic, elegant, and timeless. The Westgate offers old-school luxury and a sense of intention — a place where you dress well and take your time. Goddess recommends getting a drink at the bar and ordering oysters on the half-shell.
A Thought on Dating in San Diego
I’m drawn to places that make it easy to relax into the experience. Where conversation feels natural and time stretches a little longer than expected. A thoughtfully chosen setting speaks volumes before a single word is spoken.
